It is designed for the immediate treatment of all degrees (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and types of burns (thermal, radiation, chemical).
Made of pure natural wool with a special weave, impregnated with 14 times its weight in hydrocolloid gel of vegetable origin, in an aluminum package, inside a transport bag with a PVC lining to protect the blanket.
It is a hydrocolloid gel of plant origin, water 96%, Melaleuca Alternifolia - Tea tree vegetable oil (Australian tea tree) and emulsifiers, sterilized by Gamma radiation (5 years from its manufacture), it is non-toxic and non-irritating. It is safe to use in children.
Its therapeutic properties are:
1. Reduces the temperature of the burn, simultaneously reduces pain, cools, calms the victim and reduces shock.
2. Moisturizes the burned skin and minimizes the burn as it is concentrated water (96%).
3. Reduces the secretion of serum from the burn due to the difference in molecular weight of hydrocolloid from normal serum.
4.Suppresses the bubble due to osmotic pressure difference.
5. Prevents the progression of the burn, time is the main issue for the immediate treatment of the burn which increases by 30% in extent and depth.
6. It protects the burn from secondary infections due to the sterilization and antiseptic action of the Australian tea tree oil.
7. It is a hydrocolloid gel, water-soluble and easily removed with saline so the doctor can see the depth of the burn.
8. It has a healing - anti-inflammatory effect, helps in rapid re-epithelialization and the formation of granulation tissue.
9. Halves patient hospitalization if used immediately after burn.
It is used in the outpatient clinics and surgical clinics of 57 hospitals in Greece, as well as in the Emergency Department.
