NEOSORB RAPID synthetic absorbable surgical suture is indicated for holding in contact soft tissue, oral mucosa, plastic surgery and generally where only short-term support is required.
Its use is not indicated for the tissues of the central cardiovascular, central nervous and ophthalmological systems. After its implantation, a mild inflammatory reaction of the tissue is initially induced, followed by the gradual formation of a fibrous tissue capsule.
The suture is degraded by hydrolysis processes, where the copolymer breaks down into glycolic and lactic acid, and with a gradual reduction in its strength, and is eventually absorbed by the tissues.
It has 50% staying power after 5 days. All initial strength of the suture is lost within 10-14 days after implantation. The absorption of the suture is completed within 42 days.
